Overview

DB Electrical Solenoids
Our aftermarket solenoids are manufactured to exacting OEM specifications for perfect fit and superior performance. We work directly with factories to make sure only premium materials and uncompromising craftsmanship go into every electrical unit. A new DB Electrical solenoid will restore precise, quick starts in a vehicle when it’s time to replace an older one.

How Solenoids Work
Solenoids work as electromagnetic switches, serving as the link between the ignition and starter. The solenoid engages when the ignition key is turned, creating a link to allow for the flow of electricity to the starter. Once the engine starts, the solenoid disengages, cutting off the flow of electric. Solenoids have wire coils that wrap around a mobile core. As electricity travels through the coil, the core becomes magnetized, which creates force to push the mobile core outward to engage gears on the starter.

Because we work directly with the factories, we can save you money by offering these electronic components at value prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a starter Solenoid?
A: A solenoid is an electromagnetic switch that is used to make the connection to complete the starter circuit. It engages the drive gear into the flywheel and energizes the field coils and armature to start turning over the engine.

Q: Where is the starter solenoid located?
A: Most of the time they are mounted on the starter itself. If not, they can be found on the fender well or firewall.

Q: What are the signs of a failing starter solenoid?
A: The engine turns over slowly with a fully charged battery. Without any clicking sounds, the starter motor turns but doesn’t engage drive into flywheel.
